MyMET Open Project Policies
Last Updated: March 2026 • Version 2.1
Corporate Parentage & Master Governance
MyMET is a public-benefit open project developed, architected, and maintained by QL Studio, the software engineering division of Qim Lab Enterprise (SSM Registration No: 202603007186 / 003810616-X).
This policy document articulates the specific rules governing MyMET's open project model, voluntary donations, supporter subscriptions, telemetry sources, and data privacy. For overarching corporate liability, security standards, and statutory terms, please refer to the master corporate governance at policies.qimlab.com.my.
Policy Contents
1.0 Open Project Philosophy & Public Service Mission
MyMET was conceived to democratize environmental, seismic, atmospheric, and space weather awareness for people around the world. We believe that access to critical safety telemetry—such as earthquake epicenters, river flood advisories, severe weather forecasts, and solar radiation anomalies—should remain freely accessible without commercial barriers or paywalls on safety-critical alerts.
As an open project operated by QL Studio, our focus is delivering reliable, consolidated data feeds directly to citizens, researchers, travelers, and local communities across Malaysia and internationally.
2.0 Voluntary Donations & Supporter Subscriptions Policy
To deliver real-time data processing, push notifications, and high-uptime cloud infrastructure without compromising user privacy, MyMET incurs ongoing operational costs. We provide a transparent, voluntary funding model:
2.1 Voluntary One-Time Donations
Users and community advocates may contribute one-time voluntary donations through official in-app billing (e.g. Google Play In-App Purchase) or recognized payment gateways to directly sponsor operational expenses.
2.2 Supporter Subscriptions / Tiers
Users may choose to subscribe to optional recurring Supporter Tiers via Google Play Store subscriptions to provide continuous monthly or annual backing for MyMET's mission.
2.3 Exclusive Dedication of Funds to MyMET Development
100% of all voluntary donations and supporter subscription proceeds are ring-fenced and strictly dedicated to supporting MyMET's active operations and continuous development. These funds directly cover:
- Cloud computing, telemetry ingestion servers, and high-concurrency database synchronization.
- High-bandwidth data delivery, proxy caching, and upstream agency API quota licenses.
- Development, testing, and distribution of new features, platform compatibility updates, and security maintenance across Android, iOS, and Web.
- Push notification gateway infrastructure for low-latency emergency alert delivery.
2.4 No Equity, Ownership, or Commercial Governance
Voluntary donations and supporter subscriptions are purely patron contributions to sustain a public project. Making a donation or purchasing a supporter subscription does NOT convey any equity, shareholding, partnership interest, copyright, intellectual property ownership, voting rights, or editorial/operational control over MyMET, QL Studio, or Qim Lab Enterprise.
2.5 Supporter Acknowledgments & Perks
As a gesture of gratitude, active supporters may receive cosmetic or usability perks (such as a digital supporter badge, customized theme styles, or early preview access to experimental tools). However, core public safety features, earthquake alerts, and weather monitoring data will never be locked behind a paywall.
2.6 Cancellation & Refund Policy
- Subscription Cancellation: You can cancel or modify your supporter subscription at any time directly through your platform subscription management settings (e.g. Google Play Store > Subscriptions). Cancellation prevents future billing while maintaining supporter status until the end of the current billing cycle.
- Refunds: Because donations and supporter subscription fees are immediately applied toward active server compute and data bandwidth costs, voluntary donations and completed subscription billing periods are non-refundable, except where strictly required by applicable statutory consumer law or official platform store (Google Play) refund policies.
3.0 Data Privacy Policy & Malaysian PDPA 2010 Compliance
In accordance with the Malaysian Personal Data Protection Act 2010 (PDPA) and Qim Lab Enterprise master privacy rules:
- No Selling of Personal Data: We never sell, rent, monetize, or trade your personal information, location telemetry, or device identifiers to third-party ad brokers or tracking networks.
- Device Location Data: If granted by you, location data is used exclusively on your device or in real-time transit to calculate proximity to earthquake epicenters, deliver localized weather warnings, and display nearby river level stations. Location coordinates are not permanently logged or tracked on external servers.
- Notification Permissions: Used solely to push critical seismic, tsunami, and severe meteorological advisories to your device.
- Anonymous Analytics: We may collect non-identifiable, aggregated technical metrics (e.g. app crash reports, OS version, API latency) to identify bugs and optimize platform stability.
4.0 Third-Party Data Sources & Emergency Disclaimer
MyMET unifies, parses, and presents publicly available telemetry from official world and national scientific institutions:
- Earthquake & Seismic Telemetry: U.S. Geological Survey (USGS) and Euro-Mediterranean Seismological Centre (EMSC).
- Volcanic & Geological Alerts: U.S. Geological Survey (USGS).
- Meteorology & Atmospheric Alerts: National Oceanic and Atmospheric Administration (NOAA), MET Malaysia, Malaysia Department of Statistics (DOSM), and MET Norway (Meteorologisk institutt).
- Space Weather & Aurora Forecasts: NASA and the NOAA Space Weather Prediction Center (SWPC).
- Satellite Orbital Tracking: CelesTrak.
- Water & River Levels: PublicInfoBanjir (Department of Irrigation and Drainage Malaysia).
MyMET is an informational aggregator and visualization tool. While we strive to maintain high accuracy and timely synchronization with upstream public feeds, MyMET is not an official government emergency broadcasting body and must not be used as a sole decision-making tool in life-threatening emergencies. Users must always heed instructions, evacuation orders, and official advisories issued by local civil protection and disaster management agencies (e.g., NADMA Malaysia, Civil Defence, FEMA, local fire and rescue).
5.0 Terms of Service & Acceptable Use
By accessing or downloading MyMET, you agree to comply with standard acceptable use guidelines:
- Fair Use: You agree not to launch distributed denial-of-service (DDoS) attacks, spam API endpoints, or conduct automated high-frequency scraping that degrades performance for other users.
- Intellectual Property: The MyMET brand, application design, UI components, and software code are proprietary assets of QL Studio / Qim Lab Enterprise. Upstream scientific data remains the property of the respective source agencies.
- Governing Law: These policies are governed by and construed in accordance with the laws of Malaysia. Any disputes shall be subject to the exclusive jurisdiction of the Malaysian courts.
